VMWare
Just installed VMWare's Fusion product. Without such a product, I can not load QTP or Quality Center on to my Mac. The next stage is to load Windows into the VMWare. The tools can then be downloaded from HP's site.
Learning QTP and Quality Center
Rashly I have decided to increase my knowledge of QTP and Quality Center. The increasing use of the tool predicates that I have to, otherwise I will be an outcast. A bit like not learning to drive.
Obstacles to overcome:
Obstacles to overcome:
- It will have to sit on a Mac (which QTP/Quality Center does not support)
- Limited knowledge of the tool.
- Only 10 days for the trial version
Of course, as an experienced test manager, I know what I want. It is just in the past, someone else has done the nuts and bolts for me.

Testing vs Quality Assurance
Is QA the same as Testing?
A source of endless debate in between executing test cases. What are they; when; and by whom?
What is Testing?
Testing is activity undertaken to confirm "something" conforms to one or more requirements. Said requirements can be non-functional or functional.
What is Quality Assurance?
QA is the process from which a person can be sure of the rigour with which testing and development activities were undertaken.
Do they need separate roles?
In my humble opinion No.
Prior to the start of testing the Test Manager should be able to clearly show how the testing will be
Otherwise known as a strategy. Once implemented at a day-to-day level any user should be able to see the progress so far. This view should be based on a scorecard which is clear and transparent.
Of course in the case of life- or safety-critical systems there may be a need for external QA. For instance nuclear power or jet plane navigation systems.

Nebtek
SALT LAKE CITY, April 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Nebtek, Inc. (www.nebtek.com) announced the integration of the Element Technica Handset (www.elementtechnica.com) with Qtake HD 3D.
Recent testing proved that horizontal image translation (also called digital convergence) in Qtake HD 3D was possible via the Technica 3D Hand Controller (THC). Using Element Technica's proprietary protocols for their handsets, engineers from the two companies were able to set horizontal image translation in Qtake HD which will retain that data and play back the convergence information in real time. The data can be exported to post production or embedded in the file on RED cameras.
The data can be exported via microSD or serial data, or in the embedded files from RED cameras.
